Ginger is related to turmeric, and like its orange cousin it not only adds taste to food but may also have therapeutic benefits. Traditional healers have long used ginger to boost digestion, reduce nausea and support the body’s fight fight against colds and flu. Studies suggest ginger has antioxidant and anti-inflamatory properties due to its bioactive ingredients, known as gingerols, specifically  –gingerol.
Add to curries, stews, stir-fries and baking. Delicious on carrots and sweet potatoes. Gives an added zing to smoothies. For an easy tea, add a ¼ teaspoon to a cup of boiling water.
